2013 Gibson Joe Perry '59 Les Paul Standard Aged/Signed + OHSCDescription
We have quite the collection of Joe Perry artist/signature models in stock at the moment but this one has to be at the top! A meticulously crafted tribute to one of rock’s most iconic guitars - based on Joe Perry’s own 1959 Les Paul— widely regarded as one of the finest Sunburst Les Pauls. The story of 9-0663 and Perry’s ownership over the years is equally amazing. Boston-area guitar legend Billy Loosigian, Eric Johnson and Slash have all owned 9-0663 over the years with Slash even using the guitar for the legendary November Rain video before graciously reuniting it with Perry at his 50th birthday party in 2000.
This super limited edition model was part of a highly exclusive run from Gibson’s Custom Shop, with only 50 aged and signed guitars produced worldwide. Each one was personally signed and played by Joe Perry and aged by Gibson’s expert luthiers to accurately replicate the wear and look of the original '59.
The guitar features a lightweight, one-piece mahogany body with a carved, hand-selected figured maple top, finished in a custom Faded Tobacco Burst that closely matches the look of Perry’s original Burst. The ageing includes detailed checking, dings, and wear patterns that authentically mirror the road-worn beauty of the real guitar. The one-piece mahogany neck is carved to the revered '59 rounded profile with a rosewood fingerboard and vintage-style trapezoid inlays.
Under the hood, the Joe Perry '59 Les Paul is equipped with a set of custom-wound Gibson Custom Buckers, modeled after the original PAFs in Joe’s guitar. Each is made with an Alnico 3 magnet and wound with accurate 42 AWG plain-enamel wire to specs of the original pickups, with a neck pickup that reads around 8k ohms and bridge pickup that’s slightly hotter at 8.5k ohms for plenty of authentic growl. These pickups deliver the unmistakable tone of a great vintage Les Paul—warm and woody with singing sustain and bite. The electronics are vintage-correct with CTS pots, Bumblebee capacitors, and traditional 3-way toggle switch with individual volume and tone controls for each pickup.
Hardware includes a nickel-plated ABR-1 Tune-o-Matic bridge and lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece, along with Kluson Deluxe tuners, all aged to match the guitar’s relic finish. It also features a long neck tenon and hide-glue construction, ensuring both historical accuracy and top-tier tone.
This 2013 Gibson Joe Perry '59 Les Paul Standard Aged & Signed model is more than just a collector’s piece—it’s a fully functional, sonically inspiring instrument built to the highest standards that perectly showcases Gibson Customs quality and craftsmanship. It comes complete with a Custom Shop Lifton-style case, COA booklet and all tags. These don't come up very often in the UK especially so this is a rare opportunity to own a faithful recreation of a true rock and roll icon signed by Joe himself.
