1971 Fender Stratocaster, Sunburst + OHSC

Description

Clean, 4-bolt, Maple neck '71 Fender Stratocaster in its original 3-tone sunburst. A really attractive example with a beautifully aged finish, and a rich, vibrant patina that speaks to decades of care and minimal wear.
One of the first things to note is this Strat's neck profile, which is on the chunkier side, but is all the better for it. It's a really nice smooth C profile and it feels great in the hand, offering both comfort and resonance to the instrument overall. The green ink neck stamp, typical of the era is no longer legible but all specs conform to the period. A pro refret, changed nut and good setup make this guitar a very nice playing example with an excellent feel.
The electronics have been kept largely original, equipped with the correct grey-bottom pickups with staggered, non-beveled pole pieces and spring height adjusters. These pickups produce a bright, articulate tone with the signature Fender sparkle, while the neck and middle pickups offer a warm, balanced sound, and the bridge pickup delivers that biting, cutting tone that Strats are known for. The pickups measure 5.32k at the neck, 5.34k in the middle, and 5.69k at the bridge, and the sound is well balanced across all positions. All 3 CTS pots date to the 52nd week of 1970 and with the exception of some slightly messy solder on the volume pot, the guitar's wiring appears stock.
An added 5-way switch improves the tonal versatility, with the original 3-way switch included in the case. Hardware is all present and correct; the original "F" tuners function well, the correct Pat pend Nickel saddles, correct bridge and two piece die cast trem unit.
Weighing in at a comfortable 3.3kg, this Stratocaster is well-balanced, unlike many of the period. Whether you're looking for a collectible vintage Fender or simply seeking an incredible-playing guitar, this Strat delivers on both fronts. The combination of its classic 3-tone sunburst finish, superb tonal qualities, and a neck that plays like a dream make it an outstanding example of a very well cared for 4-bolt neck Strat.
Comes complete with its original hard case, bridge cover, and tremolo arm.
