Description

A superb 2016 Gibson ’63 ES-335 Reissue, finished in Cherry with the desirable factory stoptail configuration with some tasteful aftermarket upgrades.

The ’63 Reissue is a classic looking guitar from the Gibson Custom Shop, with it's narrower/pinched cutaway horns, and vibratn cherry finish. As you'd expect it features a bound rosewood fingerboard with small block inlays and stoptail/ABR configuration.

This example has been very well looked after and remains extremely clean. It's had a pair of Lollar Low Wind Imperial humbuckers added which sound superb, along with strap locks and an additional ABR-1 bridge fitted with nylon saddles is also included.

The neck is one of the strong points on this one. It measures a generous 43.5mm at the nut, with a depth of 22mm at the 1st fret and 25.2mm at the 12th. It has enough substance to feel nice and supportive, and overall this is a very easy, comfortable guitar to play.

The Lollar Low Wind Imperials are a great match for a 335. They have an open, lower-output PAF-style character with plenty of clarity and harmonic detail, allowing the acoustic quality of the guitar to come through. The neck pickup stays warm without becoming woolly or bloated, while the bridge has plenty of chime, bite and definition.

The stoptail setup keeps things simple and gives the guitar a nice direct response, and this particular example feels lively and well balanced in the hand.

A very clean and great-playing ’63 Reissue with the classic Cherry/block-inlay look, an excellent neck and a tasteful set of Lollar pickups. A really usable 335 and a particularly nice example of the later Gibson Memphis models. Comes complete with original case, COA booklet and warranty leaflet.
