1972 Fender Stratocaster + HSC

Description

This is a great value, classic looking Strat with that well worn look that oozes coolness from every pore...

It has had a refret, some copper shielding paint in the cavities and some light remodelling in the control cavity and neck pocket.

There is also evidence that there might have been a different pickguard fitted as there is an additional screw hole, under the existing pickguard. This would explain the routing. The body is in great shape with some great wear to the finish. The sunburst has faded nicely, as is evident when you take the pickguard off. The neck too is still glossy and feels very comfortable. The neck has been refretted and they have plenty of life left in them, the rosewood board is terrific and free of any wear.

Under the hood we find classic grey bottom pickups, all dated 1971 in brilliant shape with no rewinds at all. The volume control has been changed  and a five way switch fitted but elsewhere things are very tidy as you can see from images.

This has the classic, staggered pole pickups that you have heard on so many recordings. It is a rare transition model made in 1971 that left the factory in 1972 with the three bolt neck and stamped saddles, plus the single string tree.

Looking for Hendrix tones? If you’ve read this far then surely that’s the case! This guitar does not disappoint. Plenty of that late 60’s spanky tone which is so unique to guitars from this era. Neck pickup has that chewy quality, the middle and bridge ramping up the treble content.

For those of you who want that tone, this guitar certainly delivers, Spanish castle magic and all…
