Klon Centaur Gold Horse "Long Tail" #1169
The myth, the legend, the Klon Centaur story is a modern day saga akin to that of King Midas.
Developed by Bill Finnegan and Fred Fenning with his students at MIT between 1990 and 1994, Bill built each one by hand on a folding card table in a time when the phrase ‘Boutique Pedal’ was in its infancy. The pedal's lack of an inherent tone made it an instant hit with players searching for that tube amp response from their drive pedals. The hype soon spread. Bill finally gave up building the units in 2009 having made 8000. The rest as they say is history…
Cosmetically the pedal is in great shape. There are a few minor chips to the paint but this is to be expected. The decals are in fantastic condition and on a whole this is a very tidy package.
This one is a "long tail" variant (check out the previous Klon we listed which was a later "short tail" example), and the serial number is 1169 which puts it around 1997.
Internally there are no signs of any changes or repairs.
Accept no imitations, this pedal truly delivers. All the transparency and delicious tone with amp-like response.
Legendary status with price tag to match, these pedals have arguably become the bursts of the pedal world, but there is no doubt that when you plug one in you'll understand what all the hype is about…
