With over 30 years experience in luthiery and guitar repair, specializing in vintage restorations, Angela Arnott knows a thing or two about guitars. Alongside her thriving repair business that she runs with her son Tig, they build ‘American inspired’ guitars with ‘high quality components, premium grade tonewoods and old school nitro-cellulose finishes’  under the 42nd Street label. This La Cadette from 2016 is one of those guitars.

The nitro finish is fantastic and has been reliced over time by various owners to give it the classic look. The guitar is a good weight and feels like a well loved instrument.

The neck too is comfortable and the 12” radius gives it a slightly more modern feel without straying far away from the source. The frets and fretboard are in great condition.

Hardware and plastics are in excellent condition.

We were told by Angela that the guitar was originally fitted with a Bareknuckles Nantucket P90 but this was later changed by a previous owner for an Oil City Firewatch. Elsewhere everything else is the same.

The guitar comes with a good quality hardshell case.

This is an incredibly versatile instrument. The controls are very interactive, coaxing out a wide palette of tones. The neck is very comfortable making this guitar a joy to play.

A truly worthy homage to a classic design and made here in Gloucestershire, what more do you want?
