1997 Gibson Joe Perry Signature Les Paul, Translucent Blackburst

Description

Made in limited numbers of 200 between 1996 - 1999 here we have a superb 1997 Gibson Joe Perry Signature Les Paul in Translucent Blackburst. Designed in collaboration with Aerosmith’s legendary guitarist this signature Les Paul captures Joe Perry’s signature tone and style, featuring a stunning finish, powerful pickups, and a unique active mid-boost circuit for added tonal versatility.

It features a solid Mahogany body and a beautifully figured carved Maple top, finished in a rather striking Translucent Blackburst finish which highlights the figured Maple giving a deep, smoky aesthetic. The Mahogany neck is shaped in a chunky rounded C profile and offers a comfortable, substantial grip.

This model is equipped with a Gibson '57 Classic humbucker in the neck position and a Joe Perry Humbucker at the bridge designed to capture Perry’s signature blend of thick, punchy rock tones and smooth articulation. The bridge pickup delivers high-output bite, perfect for driving leads and heavy rhythms, while the neck pickup offers warm, bluesy depth.

A standout feature of this guitar is its active mid-boost/feedback control powered by a 9V battery housed in the pot cavity. This circuit allows control over the resonant sweep of the frequency boost like a wah pedal, a signature tone often heard in Joe Perry’s playing. This circuit is activated via a push/pull knob in the neck tone knob position. It's a lot of fun and a really cool feature of this model!

The translucent Blackburst finish is an excellent match to the flame Maple top and looks stunning with the black hardware and plastics. The pearl guard and truss rod cover finish things off nicely and overall the guitar has an awesome, sleek, flamboyant look.

A really cool, collectible model complete with case, certificate and all candy photographed!
