1980 Gibson Les Paul Standard Wine Red + OHSC

A very nice, mainly original 1979/80 Gibson Les Paul Standard in wine red!
Made in the Nashville plant with a maple neck and solid construction this is one of the first LP's to be fitted with the superb Tim Shaw pickups and are in fact stamped April 1979
The body is wine red, a popular colour at the time and is in generally good condition although there is some wear showing on the back of the neck (see pics).
The three piece neck and fretboard are in good condition with life left in the original frets.
Plastics are good with the hardware only showing slightest blemishing, the neck ring has been replaced as these are commonly broken but the original is in the original case.
Electronically we have a pair of Tim Shaw Humbucking pickups married to some CTS pots, dated from 1978 and 79. All solder is untouched and cavity has date stamp of April 1979.
Sonically this guitar ticks quite a few boxes. The guitar has a reassuring weight of 4.92Kg and it certainly has all the sonic hallmarks of a great Les Paul. The neck pickup is smooth and clear and the bridge has plenty of bite without ever sounding harsh or brittle. Mixed together there is plenty of clarity and none of the midrange heaviness you would expect.
Included is the original late 70's 'chainsaw' type plastic case with all the latches working!
A real nice example that has been played and loved. Grab it before it gets away...
