1968 Fender Telecaster Dakota Red + OHSC
Custom colour refin Telecaster, what more do you need? Its a 1968 Fender Telecaster in Dakota Red.
The finish is in great shape and really helps his guitar stand out in any collection. Its certainly seen a bit of life and the refinish has been done very well. The wear really add to the chararcter of the instrument, complimeting the patina of the hardware and the miles on the neck.
The rosewood fingerboard still sports the original frets which have plenty of life left in them. As with the body, the lacquer has worn comfortably having escaped the refinishing process.
The plastics are in great shape as is the hardware though there is some signs of pitting and corrosion. The factory fitted vibrato is in good shape.
Electroncially there has been some inevitable rewiring though thankfully the pots and capacitor are correct, reading week 17 of 1966. The switch is a modern example.
The guitar comes with a correct Fender black tolex case.
Sonically, this guitar has a superbly ‘spanky’ quality with plenty of bite from the bridge pickup as you’d expect. The 1M pots are a divisive feature but work really well here . The neck pickup is a perfect foil bringing a warmth to proceedings. The rosewood neck is comfortable to play and the finish has been sufficiently worn to provide a compliant playing surface.
Custom colour Fenders are always a welcome sight here at ATB Guitars and this 1968 Telecaster with its cool custom colour is a stunning example with a great tone to match...
