1967 Fender Transition Telecaster + OHSC

Description

Maple cap, chunky neck Fenders are always welcome here at ATB Guitars and this Blonde 1967 Fender Telecaster is no exception.

This guitar is in excellent shape. The finish has faded a little which is clearer when you compare the finish under the pickguard. There are a few bumps and knocks but the overall look is quite clean, the advantage of the slightly thicker finish is clear.

The neck too looks superb. Apart from a few very minor knocks, there is no real damage to the back of the neck and the lacquer has worn nicely. The fretboard and frets are in great shape, free of pitting and the frets have plenty of life left in them. The headstock has only some light crazing and the original transition logo decal is still strong and has not been rubbed off.

There is evidence of some stickers or something on the side and back od the guitar, just by the jack plate but the front looks great and this is not very noticeable.

Electronically the only change is that a correct three way switch has been fitted to replace the broken modern one that the guitar arrived with. Elsewhere everything looks correct though some solder joints have been reheated..

The guitar comes with a correct Black Tolex Fender hardshell case.

This guitar certainly has plenty to offer sonically. The neck pickup delivers a smooth tone with plenty of clarity and a great rhythm tone that evokes a Stax sound. The bridge pickup has all the bite you’d want without getting too far towards the harshness that later incarnations tended to drift. The middle position blends both wonderfully. The neck is very comfortable and it doesn’t take too long to fall for this guitar.

A classic guitar in a classic colour and rare to see chunky neck, maple cap Teles these days...
