1967 Fender Telecaster Candy Apple Red + OHSC
Custom colour Telecaster, what more do you need? Its a 1967 Fender Telecaster in Candy Apple Red. It is a nice compliment to our 1965 lake placid blue one here but a little bit cheaper of course...
The finish is exquisite and will stand out in any collection. Its certainly seen a bit of life and unbelievably it is 100% original, even down to the original woof tone wiring for the neck pickup (we can remove this is you prefer at no extra charge).
The little amounts of wear you can see exposes the intriguing layers of Candy Apple red with the Firemist Gold undercoat. Aside from these patches of wear the finish is in nice condition and it oozes character all over.
The rosewood fingerboard still sports the original frets which are a bit worn but not so much as to interfere with your enjoyment of this classic Tele.
The electronics are all original down to the last solder joint and both pickups are alive and sound classic 60's Tele. None of them have been rewound and we think we were one of the first to even take this guitar apart. The pickguard has shrunk so much it is really tight around the neck pickup so we do not have any under the guard pics however we have had a good look with a torch and can verify everything is totally original and as it left Fullerton.
The guitar comes with a correct Fender black tolex case which is in similar good condition to the guitar.
Sonically, this guitar has a superbly ‘spanky’ quality with plenty of bite from the bridge pickup as you’d expect. The 250k pots help round the sound a little, a feature that is much appreciated when compared to telecasters form later on. The neck pickup is a perfect foil bringing a warmth to proceedings. The rosewood neck is comfortable to play and the finish has been sufficiently worn to provide a compliant playing surface.
Its a nice lightweight too and at 3.35Kg its not going to break the back!
Custom colour Fenders are always a welcome sight here at ATB Guitars and this 1967 Telecaster with its cool custom colour is a stunning example with a great tone to match...
