The Hofner 500/1 bass is arguably the marque’s greatest success story. The weapon of choice of a certain Paul McCartney, the violin shaped bass will forever be associated with four guys from Liverpoool who changed music. Lightweight, hollow body and short-scale makes for a winning combination with a tone that defines an era.

The bass is in really great condition. There are no signs of overspray or touchup. The finish is in really great condition and there are no signs of a neck reset or any other repairs or touch ups anywhere.

The neck  is in great condition with very little wear to the frets and fretboard. It has the original frets which are in superb condition as most of the time these basses are used with flats.

Plastics and hardware are in good shape with only slight tarnishing.

Electrically everything is original. Both pickups work well, are well balanced and do not seem to have been tampered with.

The bass comes with its correct Selmer hardshell case.

This bass possesses a wonderful tone that is so unmistakable with a woodyness that's almost upright in its nature when unplugged.

The defining sound of the Mersey, this is the bass you've been looking for…
