1966 Fender Jaguar Charcoal Frost Metallic + HSC
Very early 1966/1965 Charcoal Frost Fender Jaguar anyone?
Billed as ‘faster and easier to play’ due to its shorter scale length and equipped with some of the most advanced switching options of any Fender to date, the Jaguar has always been a little bit at odds with its other stable mates but has always found favour in the underground. Even so, there is no denying the iconic look of the instrument, especially decked out in custom colours and covered in chrome.
As seen on Lincoln Continentals between 1965 and 1966 as well as the Ford Thunderbird, Charcoal Frost was included in Fender’s Custom Colour chart in 1966.
It's always a treat to see a Custom Colour Fender, in particular with a matching headstock. This is quite a rare colour and is always a treat to see a guitar in this finish. This guitar has seen some life but over-all this guitar is in stunning shape. There are a few bumps and scrapes, some of which have gone through the paint, but these don’t detract from the look.
The neck (dated November 1965) has some wear on the back in places but nothing too extensive. The fretboard is in wonderful condition, and the frets show some signs of use. The headstock has kept that smooth finish and hasn’t yellowed very much at all. The logo is immaculate.
The pickguard hasn’t shrunk or warped at the edges. The hardware is free of too much corrosion and still gleams almost like it was just a few years old. The saddles are Allparts with the originals in the case.
Electronically the guitar is correct and all the solder joints (and yes, there are many!) look to be undisturbed which is always a welcome sight. The pots date to week 45 of 1965
This guitar comes with a hardshell case.
Unplugged there’s a vibrancy that isn’t always evident in these offset guitars. Once plugged in, the guitar has a wide palette of tones available and both pickups work well so as to make any option a good one, again a statement that can’t be made about all Jaguars unfortunately.
Looks to die for with tone to match. They don’t often get here in this condition so its a must for anyone looking for a custom colour offset for their collection.
