1965 Fender Princeton Reverb Amp AA764

Dating back to the K&F days, the Princeton amp has remained a feature of the Fender catalogue right through to the present day. Originally the smallest of the amp line, the Princeton grew to legendary status that far outstretched its initial student moniker and even became the basis of Randall Smith’s foray into amp building. The Princeton Reverb was introduced in 1965 and became a studio favourite.
Cosmetically this amp is in great condition, hardly a knock or scratch to be seen, the tolex very nice as you can see from the pics. The grill cloth is in excellent shape too, pretty much fade free. Control face is clean and good too.
Internally everything is as would be expected. The vast majority of solder joints are undisturbed and components left unchanged aside from a few minor, passive ones required to keep the amp running.
The sale includes the original speaker. This will need re-coning as it suffered some damage during transit. That has been corrected but the speaker doesn’t work correctly. Currently it has a modern Jensen replacement fitted. The reverb tank is correct and works well.
This amp lives up to its reputation. Its plenty loud enough to cope with studio/home or stage use. The tremolo circuit is nice and strong and the reverb adds a fantastic depth to the sound. It breaks up nicely whilst retaining that Fender clarity. A truly inspiring amp.
We don’t often sell amps but we find these are always popular and this one is stunning example. Grab it whilst you still can…
