1964 Gibson SG Junior anyone?
This guitar certainly looks the part, the body certainly has some nice checking. The colour has survived, retaining its redness. There are a few dings here and there but nothing too extensive. The back too has a few dings and some nice checking.
The neck has been refinished by Stuart Palmer, Luthier based in South Yorkshire, following a headstock crack repair a while ago. This has been done very well. The fretboard shows signs of wear and there is some life left in the frets. The tuners are more modern but correct type Kluson, other tuners have been on there at some stage.
The plastics are in good shape, the pickguard is a good reproduction and the pickup cover is all intact and correct.
The hardware is correct and in good condition with only slight wear visible.
Electronically everything looks correct. All solder joints are untouched. Unfortunately the pot codes are obscured.
The guitar comes with a Gibson hardboard case from the period.
Sonically this guitar is so much more than a 'student' guitar.. A great rock n roll machine, this guitar just screams. The neck is so comfortable being a classic, favoured 1964 profile and reassuringly full, just inviting you to play anywhere.
We love SGs here at ATB Guitars and to have a Junior is always a treat. If your thing is there's horned beasts then you need this one in your collection.
