This is the very first time this guitar has been offered for sale since 1993 and has been in the hands of a well respected collector since then.

Introducing the Gibson Firebird VII, a very rare and original electric guitar from 1964, in a stunning custom colour - cherry red. This guitar is a true gem for any collector or musician looking for a one-of-a-kind piece.

Reverse body Firebirds of any model are rare to find with no breaks or repairs - this is one of the survivors. Add to that it is a custom order cherry red finish makes this probably the only one in existence. We have seen a few cherry red III’s and a cherry red V but never a VII...

Crafted by the Gibson company in 1964, the Firebird VII features a solid mahogany body with a unique reverse body shape that sets it apart from any other guitar. The set-in neck is also made from mahogany and is adorned with an ebony fingerboard, providing a smooth and comfortable playing experience.

This Firebird VII is equipped with three mini-humbucker pickups, giving it a distinct and powerful sound that's perfect for a range of genres, from rock to blues to jazz. The guitar also features a classic out of phase middle pickup selection that is surprisigly useful and tuneful.

The custom cherry red finish on this guitar is an extremely rare and sought-after feature that makes it truly unique. The finish is a bit faded but still eye-catching, showcasing the stunning wood grain beneath. This is complemented by the gold hardware which is standard on the top of the range VII’s.

There are a few dings and marks here and there but overall it is in really good condition, please see the photos. It has the original frets which are quite playable and there is very little wear on the lovely ebony fingerboard.

Only issue is for whatever reason, the serial number has been obscured and neatly filled over with some wood veneer (see pics) but included is an invoice from Buzzy Levine of Lark St Music dated February 1993 along with a letter from the shop Lark St bought it from stating the guitar is free from any claims. Anyone who knows Buzzy will know he is and has been one of the straight shooters in this business.

Overall, this 1964 Gibson Firebird VII in custom cherry red is a true treasure that's sure to turn heads and impress even the most discerning of collectors and musicians.
