1962 Fender Stratocaster Sunburst Refin + HSC

Description

The true epitome of a Strat, the 1962 Fender Stratocaster...

The body has been expertly refinished by John Diggins, who also oversprayed the neck and included is a receipt dated 1992 from the John Diggins himself for this work. Known to many as the man behind Jaydee Guitars and stunning instruments produced for artists such as Mark King and Tony Iommi. As you can see from the pictures, John has done a very good job at replicating the sunburst of the period. No attempt has been made to relic the finish but this will undoubtedly happen over time and in fact has already started to happen to some extent!

The neck too has been oversprayed, with the original finish and wear pattern visible underneath. The back is a smooth gloss finish with the headstock face being satin. As you'd imagine, the decal is new but has been applied over the finish, just like they used to do.

The frets are correct and have plenty of life left. The fretboard is in good shape free of any real wear.  The hardware is all correct and shows signs of corrosion but all of it works really well.

The plastics are correct and as you'd expect show signs of wear. The pickguard has shrunk a little and as a result has had to be repaired at the tip. Its also yellowed hugely over the years, no doubt from a few years of smokey bars.. this guitar must have looked quite something before the refin...

Electronically all is all correct with 1962 pots (9th week) though a couple of the the solder joints have been disturbed as you would expect for a refin. The neck pickup has been rewound by Montys. The trem arm is a little weird shape but does work.

The guitar comes with a hardshell case

This guitar does what you'd expect an early 60's Strat to do. The pickups provide a warm tone across all three positions that run the gamut from full to cutting without getting thin.

This is a great guitar thats been sympathetically refinished to a very high standard that retained all the important features to make it not only a great instrument but a worthy investment for the tone-hound looking for that illusive sound.
