A guitar with a wonderful history and no doubt many stories to tell. Purchased from Stan Webb of Chicken Shack by Robert in the 1970s, we believe this was one of two Strat's owned by Stan. 

Robert and the other members of Led Zeppelin were big fans of Stan Webb and Chicken Shack having met each other during the early blues scene in London and the UK. Robert was a bid admirer of his playing and fluent style so when the opportunity to acquire one of his guitars turned up he did not hesitate!

You don't have to look hard to notice the obvious modifications the guitar has had over the years. It's been through the John Birch workshop once or twice for some quite extensive mods including a change of decal, lacquered fingerboard, an added switch with subsequent routing to the body, stripped finish, changed saddles and tuners, and some extensive work to the electrics including the addition of two Suhr vintage '60 single coil pickups at the bridge and neck position, and a correct black bottom in the middle position. The added switch gives you many tonal options and it's a really fun guitar to play, especially knowing the hands it's been through over the years.

It also looks like it has had an interesting life as the headstock has been repaired (rare for a Strat) but this must have been done many many years ago and appears totally stable.

We're selling this on behalf of Robert himself, and it comes with a signed authentication letter. He is donating all of the proceeds to charities close to his heart.
