1962 Fender Stratocaster Ted Lee (Selmer) refin Nr MINT + HSC
A stunning, one owner guitar with a great story, this guitar came to us via the original owner. It was meant to be a present for him, bought by his grandfather but sadly before he took possession of it his grandfather passed away and it was not for a couple of years later the shop (Mamelok in Manchester) found its rightful owner and handed it to him.
Originally sunburst, the guitar was taken to be refinished by Ted Lee via Mamelok in Manchester. Ted Lee is the same chap who did the famous Selmer Fender refinishes.
The owner does not play guitar very much so ever since he collected in the late 60's / early 70's it has remained in its case, unused. It is effectively MINT condition and totally unfaded since its refin by Ted Lee.
This guitar is in stunning condition. As you can see there is no sign of any fading or wear. The finish has checked but there is no sign of use.
The neck finish is also unfaded and the frets and have plenty of life left, it seems for some reason Mamelok decided it needed a refret but thankfully this has been done very well and sympathetically with frets close to what had originally been on there.
The fretboard has virtually no wear at all and is a beautiful, dark rosewood slab. The decal has been replaced during the refin and is the wrong type of decal for the era but is probably all you could get in the late 60's..
The hardware is all correct and shows no sign of corrosion.
The plastics are correct and as you'd expect show very little sign of wear. The pickguard is also correct and shows no sign of shrinkage or cracking and is still the original grey colour they were when they were new, it has hardly any greening at all.
Electronically all is all correct with 1962 pots (9th week) though a couple of the solder joints have been disturbed as you would expect for a refin.
The guitar comes with a hardshell case.
This guitar does what you'd expect an early 60's Strat to do. The pickups provide a warm tone across all three positions that run the gamut from full to cutting without getting thin.
This is a great guitar thats been sympathetically refinished to a very high standard that retained all the important features to make it not only a great instrument but a worthy investment for the tone-hound looking for that illusive sound...
