One of the most iconic and sought-after iterations of the Strat, the early-mid '60s models captured the golden-era Fender formula with remarkable clarity. We're fortunate to have a superb selection of pre and post-CBS models at the moment so if you're in the market give us a call!

This example is completely original but with characterful wear from use over the years. The perfect guitar for those looking for an investment piece to play as well as collect - something with vintage tone, looks and feel without the worry of dinging a mint example.

Finished in a beautifully aged three-tone Sunburst that has retained a strong red element, and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish having subtly checked over time, along with authentic wear and tear only years of playing can produce, this guitar has that timeless, inimitable vintage look that many so desire, and that the Custom Shop endeavour to replicate.

This one is a few months after slab fingerboard territory with a neck stamp of Oct '62. The quarter-sawn Maple neck displays a really nice grain pattern particularly to the headstock face with the spaghetti logo decal perfectly preserved above the honeyed cellulose lacquer. The neck is nicely played-in with a perfect worn, tactile feel. It has a slim/medium "C" profile typical of the year—round and comfortable. The Rosewood fingerboard is dark and oily, punctuated with clay dot markers and original frets. The nut is also original and overall the neck is in very good condition.

Hardware is all present and correct. The single line Nickel Kluson tuners function well, the two-piece bridge/trem block, springs and claw are all correct, operate smoothly and hold tuning well. A pencil date of '62 is visible from the trem cavity, and the solder on the trem claw looks undisturbed.

Under the hood everything is very tidy and appears solder-intact. The original trio of black-bottom single-coil pickups are well balanced and unmistakably 'of the era' - bell-like, articulate, and dynamically responsive. The wiring, switch, capacitor and Stackpole pots all appear correct and everything looks untouched, preserving the guitar’s historical and tonal integrity. Pots date to 42nd week of '62 so all of the dateable parts line up nicely.

Plastics are all correct and in good shape. The nitrate pickguard has nicely greened as expected and is fully intact having resisted shrinkage. Pickups covers and knobs are correct too.

This one ticks all of the boxes and is a textbook example of Fender’s pre-CBS mastery! It’s a highly collectible, sonically inspiring, and visually striking instrument that is a joy to play and a joy too look at! A superb guitar, complete with the original brown Tolex case.
