A 1958 super reonant Fender Stratocaster at a smidge under 3Kg? This one has a little surprise…

This guitar’s body has been refinished in a light blue and lightly reliced. As you can see from the pictures, they managed to retain the body date of December 1958. The body has been treated for woodworm, the traces of which can be seen in the cavities and where the finish has been worn away. There has been filler used to smooth over the channels left but the worms have been completely eradicated and there is no sign of any more.

This has resulted in some amazing 'natural' weight relief and this guitar has a very distinctive, resonant sound which to be frank, is quite amazing! In fact there is at least one company we know of which specially looks for woodworm treated timbers to make guitars from due to their unique sonic properties! 

The neck date reads April 1958, body (originally sunburst) is dated 12/58. The neck still has most of its original finish but it has been refretted with a new nut. It is in great condition and feels wonderful.

The pickguard is correct whilst the other plastics are reproductions. 

The saddles are reproductions that have been aged whilst the rest of the bridge is vintage Fender though we can’t be certain of the age.

Electrically, the pickups are rewound black bottom pickups, possibly 60s. The pots and switch are modern.

The guitar comes with a hardshell case.

This guitar is a real pleasure to play. The neck is comfortable and the guitar is lightweight (natural weight relief). The black bottom pickups have such a clear and three dimensional tone without any of the harshness that later incarnations.
