This amp is in great condition for its age. The tweed is a little frayed but on a whole is in great shape. There is a panel missing from the back but this doesn't affect operation though care must be taken when the unit is plugged in.

Internally everything looks correct. The only modification seems to be some replaced wires to the speaker and internally from the power transfomer, all of which are plastic covered. Elsewhere there are no signs that any repairs or modifications have been carried out. Pot codes read as week 17 of 1954. The speaker, manufactured by Zenith, reads as week 48 of 1956. We cannot know for certain if this was the original speaker but it is period correct.

In a similar vein to the Gibson GA5 or Fender Champ, this amp packs quiet a punch at a reasonable volume. With the right settings there is a reasonable amount of clean headroom with the tone control playing quite a big part in how crunchy things are.

If you're looking for a great little at home amp or something filthy for the studio, this is the amp for you! Grab it before its gets away…
