Original 1957 'Mary Kaye' blonde, ash body Strat with lots of its original gold hardware for under £20k....! Read on.

This is an original Mary Kaye Strat made in 1957 (yes it is!). Here are the highs and the lows:

Original:

• Ash body dated 8-57
• Maple, classic soft V profile 1957 neck dated 8-57
• 3 x original pre-CBS black bottom pickups (bridge with original windings, middle and neck expertly rewound)
• 3 x original pots dated week 23 of 1957, original switch and cap. Some replaced wiring
• Lots of original gold hardware including - single line Kluson tuners, bridge plate, neck plate, neck plate screws, jack cup and some pickguard screws

Replaced:

• Pickguard is a really good repro.
• Saddles replaced with vintage steel saddles but 5 x original gold ones included with intonation screws broken off)
• pickup mounting screws, pickup mounting doughnuts (originals included), Strap buttons, trem arm is a good repro.

The guitar body has been expertly and lovingly refinished by Huw Price who also repaired a small patch in the body with ash and refinished the face of the headstock and the fingerboard. Huw also refretted it with Jescar 50085 fretwork which is very slightly larger than the original and it really does play well.

So there you have it. An original Mary Kaye at a very competitive price, probably one you will not see for this price for some time to come. 

Everyone who has played this has been impressed with its sound, playability and importantly the looks. We love this here and it is just as good as the handful of original Mary Kay's we have sold in the past all of which have been considerably more, by quite a margin!
