1956 Gibson Les Paul Conversion PGV + OHSC

Description

From the workshop of Yuuki McClure (PGV - Player Grade Vintage), we have this stunning 1956 Gibson Les Paul Conversion.

The guitar itself is in good structural condition with a well repaired headstock break which is covered by a stinger. As noted on the sheet from Yuuki, the guitar was sourced in Oslo from the original owner and he proceeded to convert it to ‘59 spec as it had been refinished already. It came with all its correct parts but was missing the original serial number.

The restoration has been done really well as you can see from the pictures, with appropriate ageing to match the faded finish. The original logo and binding have been retained and a new 1959 serial number has been stamped by PGV.

The original fretboard has been refretted and shows very little signs of use. This also features its correct inlays.

Other parts are as follows -

  • 1959 Kluson tuners with reproduction tips.
  • Original 1956 cream pickguard modified for humbuckers.
  • Original lightweight tailpiece and studs.
  • Complete late 1955 dated pots, bumblebee capacitors, switch, and wiring.
  • Original circa 1959 Gibson PAF pickup with original cover in the bridge position.
  • OTPG PAF replica humbucker in the neck position. 1970s cream M69 pickup ring in the neck position.
  • Genuine 1950s cream M69 ring in the bridge position.
  • 1950s gold bell knobs and pointers.
  • 1962 ABR bridge.
  • Original 1956 strap buttons.
  • Original cream jack plate and truss rod cover.
  • Black backplates were fabricated to replace the original brown ones.

The guitar comes with its correct Lifton hardshell case.

This guitar really sings. There is no denying the magical combination of maple, mahogany and patent number pickups if all you want in life is the flutey, infinitely sustaining tone and the effortless feel of the 24.75" scale. The out of phase sound is fantastic and adds another dimension to the sonic scope of the instrument.

We have seen a number of conversions and this is without a shadow of a doubt, one of the finest we have come across. The finish in particular is bang on for a 59 Burst and we can assure you it sounds and plays just as good as it looks. This could be the burst you're looking for...
