Introduced in 1953 in response to Gibson’s Les Paul and the rampant success of Leo Fender’s Telecaster, the Duo Jet was Gretsch’s first foray into the solid body market. Chambered body with a glued on arch top and a Nitron finish, the Duo jet is practically a hollow guitar with many design aspects having been borrowed from the other guitars in the stable. 

The guitar is in excellent condition. There are a few minor knocks but the body doesn’t show its 60+ years. The Nitron covered top is in excellent shape as is the binding. There are no signs of any repairs.

The neck too is a joy with no sign of any resets or repairs. The binding is free of any damage. The ebony fretboard and original too are in great shape.

There are little signs of use on the hardware. The Bigsby is a later addition and the original Gretsch tailpiece is included in the case which can be reinstated easily and without any nasty holes should the new owner require it but we think it looks super cool with the Bigsby so we have left it on...!

Electrically everything is correct with no signs of any solder being disturbed. Pots codes are week 40 of 1956. The original DeArmond Dynasonic Pickups should amazing and of course, quintessentially Gretsch.

The guitar comes with its correct Gretsch hardshell case.

The lightweight chambered body is resonant and married to a pair of responsive Dynasonic pickups makes for a potent package. The guitar is a joy to play with so many tones available. A real alternative to the goldtop.

Sometimes a Gretsch is all you need. Grab this one before it gets away..
