1952 Gibson ES-175 D + HSC

Description

A 1952 Gibson ES-175 anyone?

Introduced in 1949 as a mid level archtop, the ES-175's all laminate construction meant that costs could be kept down. Initially released with a single neck pickup, it was also the first Kalamazoo design to feature a Florentine cutaway.

The guitar is in good condition The guitar has been oversprayed at some stage and the finish has crazed. We believe the finish underneath is correct. There are dings and marks on the body as well as signs of different parts having been fitted at various stages.

The neck is in good condition and looks not to have been oversprayed. The original frets have some life left in them and the fretboard is in good condition. There are patches of repaired finish on the headstock.

The hardware and plastics are mostly reproduction. The plastic cover on the pickup is correct, the jack socket has a mounting plate attached.

The pickup is correct and does not look to have been rewound. The electrics have been replaced

The guitar comes with a hardshell case.

Tonally, this guitar is quite lively. As you’d expect, it’s loud acoustically, exhibiting a pleasing woody tone which comes across when amplified. The neck pickup brings out the character of the guitar which is all you could ask for..

Searching for that elusive archtop tone on a budget? Look no further and grab this one before it gets away…
