From the famed ‘TV front’ range of Fender amplifiers, we give you this Champion 600 from 1949.

Introduced as the little brother of the Champion 800, these student amps formed the gateway to the Fender amp range from 1949 and spawned a family of amps that are held in higher regard to this day. Covered in  two tone Naugahyde leatherette (used on the poodle and thermometer cases), the Champion 600 featured a 6” speaker being driven by 3 watts of 6V6 power. New for 1949 was the use of linen grill cloth over the mohair as it was less prone to moth attack.

This is a fantastic, near MINT example. Very clean with no damage to the leatherette. The control panel is in goodt condition showing only slight signs of bubbling with the silk screened text still clear.

The amp is still fitted with its correct speaker. Internally nothing seems to have been changed. The correct output transformer is still present.

As you’d hope, this amp sounds fantastic. Very evocative, this amp is a must for anyone in search of a rootsy or vintage tone. There is no doubt why this is such a lauded amp.

These don’t come up for sale very often in this condition and its been a while since we saw one this clean so grab it before it slips away…
