1946 Gibson ES-300 + OHSC

Description

Up for sale is a nice and early 1946 Gibson ES-300 arch top guitar, crafted with a mahogany body and featuring an early rounded, no pole piece, P-90 pickup. This original vintage instrument has been well preserved, with a rich and warm tone that is sure to impress any discerning musician or collector.

The classic design of the ES-300 boasts a beautifully arched top, crafted with select mahogany wood that gives this guitar its signature deep and resonant sound. The top is finished in a nice faded sunburst, with a small script logo on the headstock that harks back to the early days of Gibson's iconic brand.

But the real star of this guitar is the P-90 pickup, which was one of the first truly successful single-coil pickups ever developed. The rounded shape of this early model with no pole pieces gives it a unique and distinctive sound, with a warmth and clarity that cuts through the mix. Whether you're playing jazz, blues, or rock and roll, this vintage ES delivers a tone that is both classic and timeless.

It is all original aside from the pickguard which is a really good repro and the tuners which are modern replacements.

Being a mere 77 years young you can expect a few marks here and there, which this one does have, but overall we think you will agree it is not too bad at all. There are some small scratches by the jack and some marks behind the bridge plus a lot of checking (see pics).

Included is what we believe to be the original hard case that is stencilled ‘Dusty Valley Boys’ and if you do a search you will even dig up some recordings from them in the 50’s and 60’s.

Playability is good, action is nice and low and although the frets are low they are still usable. It has a nice big chunky neck too.

Overall, this 1946 Gibson ES-300 arch top guitar is a true gem. With its superb craftsmanship, gorgeous finish, and legendary P-90 pickup, it is a nice guitar for any guitar enthusiast.

Whether you're a player or a collector, this vintage beauty is sure to be valued and played for years to come.
