Definitely an uber-rare sight here at ATB Guitars, a 2015 Fender Custom Shop 1965 Stratocaster Journeyman Relic
A fantastic blend of the old and new, this guitar features factory 9.5” to 12” compound radius neck with a 60s oval neck profile, lightly aged black nitro-cellulose finish and factory fitted humbucker in the bridge. The original owner had the revered Feline Guitars fit an original (German) Floyd Rose, which has been done to perfection. At the same time, the medium-jumbo fretwire was replaced with Dunlop 6100 wire and the JB humbucker was switched to a Seymour Duncan SH-11 ‘Custom Custom’, with the stock nickel cover retained. A super-switch was also fitted so the humbucker goes through a 500k pot and the two single coils through 250k pots.
As you’d expect, this guitar feels like the perfect blend of the contemporary and vintage. Whilst both single coils give us the traditional Stratocaster tones, the Seymour Duncan and Floyd Rose undoubtedly lends a more modern feel to the sound with the compound radius making this a dream to play in any position.
It’s so rare to see a Custom Shop Strat with a Floyd and this one has been done beautifully by one of the best techs in the country.
