Factory Custom Colour, Black Fender Strat from one of the last period of greatness whilst under CBS's control. This one is a good one and looks/plays/sounds the part too...
This product is currently on hold.
Very fine 1974 Fender Stratocaster in custom colour black finish. Nice rosewood fingerboard and in good clean condition with a repro case.
A decent lightweight Strat for this period and one of the last of the classic late 60’s style, staggered pole pickups, just like Hendrix used and made just before things started to go downhill in a bigger way for CBS Fender. 1974 is where we cease our interest in vintage Fenders and this one (together with the LPB Strat we have just posted) represent the last of the good bunch. In our opinion.
All correct, but I have a slight question mark over the pickguard. Whilst it has all the correct markings of a ‘74 guard, inside and out, it is slightly thinner than what we are normally used to seeing. The dealer who sold this to me seemed to think it was original but I am keeping an open mind on this.
Everything else is all straight and matches up fine including the solder joints, hardware and all electrics. Finish is original but there is the slightest touch up on the back where I have detailed it on the photographs in the gallery.
All three pickups sound great, glassy and Stratulicious clean. Guitar is in most excellent condition for a 1974 and survived the 70’s without a humbucker route, or any other route anywhere at all.
Decent price too for a custom colour Strat that will not disappoint in the looking, playing, or sounding department…
