Someone pass me the compressor pedal, I feel some country coming on...
A very nice and original blonde 1973 Fender Telecaster for your delectation.
As was the purpose of moving over to poly for finishing guitars in 1968, this guitar has weathered very well. There is a little discolouration to the top but this is only minor. This can also be said of the back however in general the guitar is a strong excellent plus condition in our book.
The neck looks great, the finish having only worn through in a few places. By 1969 Fender had chosen to construct both rosewood board and maple necks using the same technique so this is why there is a walnut strip in the back of a neck with a rosewood fretboard.
Equally the fretboard is in good condition with a little pitting on the first few frets. The frets themselves have plenty life left in them.
The headstock is a little darker due to the nitrocellulose finish that was still applied to the face. The logo is still intact and there are only a few minor chips. The hardware is in good condition. The ashtray cover hasn’t alway scene utilised as you’d expect but there is only a little corrosion around the middle saddles. The plastics too look in excellent condition.
Electronically everything looks correct and the solder is undisturbed and the guitar comes with its correct Black Tolex Fender case.
There is a definite leaning towards the twang with this guitar. The combination of 70’s pickups and 1M pots gives this guitar a really sharp tone which benefits on occasion from the tone control. The addition of a treble bleed circuit helps retain clarity with the=volume turned down. Those country licks never sounded clearer.
Telecasters are very popular here at ATB Guitars and this one is sure to snapped up soon so if you’re looking for something a little different from all those boring 50’s and 60’s Teles then this might be the one for you at a price which is far, far less then we sell these for…
