1973 spec Fender P-Bass, all original, at a good price that is one of the last before things went a bit downhill at post CBS Fender...
This is a nice one, a great all original Precision Bass from the early CBS period, before things got bad…
This all original but well played example is a real testament to the ethos of the P Bass, no thrills but all the warm woody tone you could ever ask for. The neck is a super comfortable medium C shape, and at 3.92kg its not a heavy beast either.
Its got its fair share of battle scars, with the usual dings and scratches around the edges that you’d associate with a nearly 50 year old guitar. On the back there’s not so much buckle rash as there is buckle peel, but again certainly no more than you’d expect for a well used guitar of this sort of age.
The neck has got that lovely, well played feeling on the back which so many players appreciate and the frets are in good shape so it is a nice one to play too.
Electronics are all correct, with the pots dating to 1973. It’s worth mentioning that the serial number on the neck plate points to it being early 74, but everything else on the instrument adds up to it being a late 73 creation.
Grab yourself a great example of how good those early 70’s CBS Fenders can really be…
