1965 Fender Stratocaster + OHSC

Fender |  1965Strat

A truly superb example of a very cool, L series, transitional Fender Strat at a great price...

Sorry, this item was sold out.

This is a really great example of an L series Fender Strat from 1965 with a transitional logo, clay dots, early white guard and if you can’t quite stretch to an original spaghetti logo pre-CBS Strat then these are wonderful and excellent value purchases right now.

Superb, original condition with no touch ups or overspray either on the neck or the body. Intact and bold transitional logo, all correct electrics and correct case with no logo that was only made for a short time during 1964 and early 65. It also includes an inspection report from George Gruhn who examined the guitar in person 5 years ago.

There are just a few dings here and there including some wear around the edges but overall it is in exceptional condition and far nicer than most of the 65 Strats we have had here. Have a good look at the photos and hopefully you will see exactly what we are referring to.

So why is this not £15k like the last one we sold..? Well if you have a close look at the internal pics, you will see a very small area that has been routed just by the truss rod adjusting nut. Obviously someone, at some stage, thought this would be a good idea so you could access the truss rod easier..!

The guitar has not been played very much by the look of it which is a shame as it does play extremely well with a great, low action. There is hardly any fret wear at all and no fingerboard rutting either.

All three, grey bottom, hand dated, pickups sound extremely good and are all original with original windings. All are nicely balanced and it is easy to get the in between sounds on this which are also very pleasing.

All plastics are totally correct and in excellent shape with no cracks. All hardware is also correct and also in great condition with the minimum amount of corrosion.

This is without a doubt, one of the finest, early transitional Strats we have had here, it looks stunning and plays superbly well and it probably won’t hang around very long, even in these times…
