1964 Epiphone Casino + HSC

A nice 43mm wide nut Casino with a superb 1964 neck profile. Reasonably priced because of the Tim Shaw Humbuckers fitted which do actually sound rather good in this guitar..!

Why put up with two coils when you can have four. 1964 Epihone Casino anyone?

This is a stunner, there is no doubt. Classic 60s Epiphone burst that seems to scream summertime, setting it apart from its ES-330 stablemates. There is evidence of slight fade near the controls but nothing too serious. The back too is free of any serious damage.

Lets address the elephant in the room. At some stage someone had the idea to retro fit some humbuckers, in this case they are currently a pair of Tim Shaw pickups. As you can imagine, this means that there’s been some work carried out. There is also the shadow of the P90s and the pickguard has been modified to accommodate the new pickups.

The neck is in good condition with very little wearing though the fretboard does show some signs of wear original frets have plenty of life left in them. The headstock is in good shape with a few minor chips and best part of all, this is a highly desired 43mm nut width Casino.

The hardware is bit of a mix. The tailpiece is correct but the bridge is made by Gotoh and the tuners good Kluson-like reproductions.

Electrically, apart from the 1979 Gibson Tim Shaw Humbuckers, everything seems to be correct.

The guitar comes with a hardshell case.

A common mod, the addition of humbuckers to a 330 can be considered sacrilege by some. Here it actually works, giving the tone a little more girth wihislt still retaining that airy, jazz box, roots quality that so draws us to these hollow thin lines. Don’t let prejudice get in the way of good tone.

These Casinos have worthy place in the electric guitar cannon and this fine example would make a fanatic addition to any collection.
