Stunning vibrant finish on this custom colour Strat that sort of makes your jaw drop as soon as you open the case lid....
There’s red, and then there’s Candy Apple Red…
Undoubtedly our favourite shade of red here at ATB, this late 1963 Strat wears it beautifully. Aside from a few dings here and there, mainly on the sides, this is a near MINT custom colour, pre-CBS spaghetti log Strat for a fairly reasonable price.
While it bears the marks of a guitar that’s been played, its certainly never been thrashed, with the original finish looking as good as ever. The classic 63 medium C neck profile is present here, and there’s plenty of life left in the original frets too. Neck dates to October 63.
All the hardware is in superb condition and of course all totally correct with a superb, crack free guard which whilst not original to this guitar is a genuine ‘63 nitrate guard and like the rest of this guitar, in exceptional condition. There are un-disturbed solder joints everywhere with all pots dated to 47th week of 1963.
Included is a brown case with the correct red lining that is in just as fine condition as the guitar is. Have a look at the photos, they do make a very pretty picture together.
The pickups are all original with original formvar windings and they all sound fantastic, clear and gritty in the way that those early 60s Strats are. Original frets are in excellent condition and guitar plays very well up and down the fingerboard. If you did decide you wanted to play this then you will not be disappointed.
Grab yourself arguably one of the best looking Strats we’ve had in a while…
