1962 Gibson ES-330 TDC Bigsby + OHSC

Just 176 of these cherry red ES-330's were produced in 1962 and for us, this is the most pleasing year visually having block markers and black P-90 covers. A stunning guitar with original hard case...

Sorry, this item was sold out.

Here’s a fine example of your favourite and ours, the Gibson ES-330 TDC in beautiful, largely unfaded, deep cherry red.

This version must be one of the first few Gibson made in 1962 to have block inlays and retain the black plastic pickup covers before they were changed to nickel and in our opinion, looks the best combination of the lot.

It is in good condition with only a few dings. There is no real wear to speak of and the body still retains that lush gloss finish. The lacquer has worn comfortably on the neck too. Whats very nice about this instrument is how well its survived over the years, retaining the crisp lines and little in the way rough handling over time.

The medium neck profile is not super skinny like they were earlier in the 61, the trend at Gibson seeming to move more towards the fuller carve as the decade progressed. The original frets have plenty of life left in them and the fretboard is in good shape. The tuners, as you can see are all correct, the guitar having thankfully escaped any tuner changes over the years.

Both original P-90’s have original windings and sound classic, strong and pretty evenly balanced. The pots are correct and the solder looks to be undisturbed.

The hardware is in very nice, largely corrosion free condition and still has a lot of gleam to them. We were sold this as being a factory fitted Bigsby but we think whilst not maybe factory fitted, it was fitted prior to sale when new, by a dealer. The B6 is totally correct and in great condition (like the rest of the guitar) and it was not uncommon for dealers to fit these, at the request of the customer, before the guitar left the store.

The guitar comes with its correct black hardshell case with yellow lining.

Acoustically this guitar has a pleasantly warm tone that certainly tips the hat to Gibson’s arch top heritage. Plugged in the guitar runs the gamut from warm neck pickup to a more honky, biting bridge pickup tone.

This is fine example and surely a must have for any guitar collection….
