Long guard, very early 1960 Gibson ES-345 TDSV with no modifications, no issues, no repairs and at the heart of this formidable beastie lies an un-molested pair of Patent Applied For pickups, both with double white bobbins. The last set I had of these I sold for £8,500 so if you are not too fussed about the colour of the bobbins that you cannot even see, you could in fact sell them and get yourself a pretty good 1959 spec 345 for a cool price… Or I would suggest live them in place and enjoy the investment.
All late ‘59 specs with medium transitional neck profile, bonnet knobs, long guard, amber switch tip and brown Lifton case. All original or correct, no work ever done, no finish issues, no touch ups or over spray and original frets with a decent amount of life still left in them.
Excellent condition, just a few nicks here and there and some of the usual wear on the gold plating. Electrics are all undisturbed and it still has it’s original stereo varitone circuit. Original stop tail, no Bigsby ever fitted on this one so no extra holes on this to lie awake at night, ruminating over.
Lovely medium slim neck with a hint of flatness, not a slim shady like you get towards the latter part of 1960 and in 1961 but a comfortable medium, exactly as a late 1959. Original frets have plenty of meat left on them and fingerboard has just a tiny bit of rutting at the lower reaches. Correct 5 latch brown pink case is also in pretty good condition with all latches and handle working fine.
Oh yes… and it sound terrific too!
