Looking for a brand new original 59 spec ES-330..? This is the one. In fact it is the most immaculate ES-330 we have ever laid eyes upon and it also has the classic '59 big neck... It probably won't be here long.

This product is currently on hold.

MINT is not a word we use lightly here at ATB Guitars but this particular example of the most immaculate ES-330 we have ever seen almost falls in to this category. In fact if you received this as a 6 month old guitar that has been in the store for a little while you would probably not blink an eye. The fact that this is actually 61 years old just makes a mockery of the current understanding of the ageing process…

Timing as they say is everything… Which is a bit of a shame when it comes to the ES-330 as 1959 was when the last of ES-225’s rolled off the Kalamazoo production line and when the first ES-330’s rolled on - the 330 replacing the 225 of course.

This is not normally such a bad thing but this must have happened sometime mid 59 soon after which, the 59 neck profile started to get a wee bit skinnier and by early 1960 it was even flatter and skinnier than late 59. The upshot is of course, finding a first year, 1959 ES-330 with the typical, classic medium chunky neck profile is a lot more difficult that you would first imagine. Most we see are the late ‘59 profile, this one is almost impossibly rare being an early 1960 example with the classic ‘59 profile that everyone seems to love and yearn for.

All totally original and with the 5 latch, Lifton brown and pink case, this is a superb example of the first and most desirable version of the sunburst ES-330 hollow body thinline. It is in truly near MINT condition as you can see from the pics and there is little wear or marks on the instrument, in fact any marks you can see are exaggerated by our studio lighting and in real life it does look a lot nicer. The Original frets are in new shape, and the action is lovely and low with a ‘plays itself’ type of feel.

This is a very comfortable guitar to play and to hold, they did get a lot of things right with this guitar first time around and subtle things like the balance is perfect, the tone is exquisite and the feel is wonderful. It is such a light weight too you will hardly notice anything hanging around your shoulders.

All original electrics with two stunning vintage, black covered P-90’s that are strong and evenly balanced. No solder joints have been disturbed. All hardware is correct and even the original no wire ABR-1 has all of its original saddles still there. Nickel parts have even kept their shine, and the plastics are in great shape with no warpage on the pickguard.

Everything about this guitar is 1959 aside from the ‘R’ FON number. The neck profile is ‘59, the knobs, switch tip and even though we cannot see the pot dates dues to oxidisation and solder using our endoscope, I will bet anything that date to 1959 too. All solder is intact and undisturbed of course.

Case is also in excellent shape with all five latches working and compliments the guitar perfectly.

If you are looking for a classic ES-330 then this is without a doubt the very best example out there! We challenge anyone to come, play it and not feel at all like putting this superb guitar down…
