This model takes much of its inspiration from the transition-era Stratocasters of around 1965, with an alder body, rosewood fingerboard, mint green guard and aged white plastics, all finished off with a particularly good-looking Shell Pink nitrocellulose lacquer finish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe neck is a gloss nitro-finished maple neck with Fender’s substantial ’60s-style “C” profile. It has a round-laminated rosewood fingerboard, but rather than sticking rigidly to a vintage 7.25” radius, Fender used a more forgiving 9.5” radius with 21 Vintage Tall frets. It retains the vintage feel in the hand, but bends and general playability are noticeably easier. A bone nut measures 1.650” \/ 42mm wide.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe vintage theme continues with vintage-style tuners and a six-saddle synchronized tremolo, while the 5-way switch is another welcome modern touch compared with the original 3-way arrangement.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA set of Pure Vintage ’65 grey-bottom Strat pickups sits at the heart of the guitar. Built with Alnico V magnets, enamel-coated coil wire and vintage-style fibre bobbins, they have plenty of that classic mid-’60s Strat character: bright and articulate with a crisp attack, plenty of chime and those familiar hollow, glassy sounds in positions two and four.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt’s a really well-judged Strat package. You get the look, nitro finish and feel of a vintage-inspired Fender without some of the compromises that can come with a completely period-correct reissue.
