The finish has a genuinely unique look, with areas of wear revealing various layers beneath, including both a silver and gold base coat and traces of Blue. It appears a blue finish was applied and later stripped back revealing the original Candy Apple red finish, resulting in visible swirl marks and patches worn through layers of paint. The result is a striking, one-off look with loads of attitude and character!

The neck is dated July ’65 and has a lovely worn-in feel. It has an unbound rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays - a nice transitional feature: post-clay dot, but before the fully bound/block-neck era that followed. The neck measures 41mm at the nut, with a depth of 20mm at the 1st fret and 24mm at the 12th, and it sits very comfortably in the hand.

Hardware includes the correct double-line Kluson Deluxe tuners and a correct mint green guard. The bridge is a repro.

It retains a CTS tone pot dated week 19 of 1965, while the volume pot has been changed. The Jaguar circuit gives the guitar its familiar wide range of tones, from bright, cutting lead sounds to darker and more textured rhythm settings.

All in all, this is a very cool old Jaguar with a look entirely its own. With its L-series serial number, July ’65 neck date, transitional pearl-dot fingerboard and heavily worn custom colour finish, it has bags of vintage Fender personality and feels like exactly the sort of guitar that should be played and enjoyed.

It comes complete with its original black Tolex hard case.
