Another stunning creation from the hands of Mr Neil Ivison, the DAKOTA ONE is the latest addition to the growing Ivison Guitars stable.

With the Firebird I as the obvious jumping off point, Neil has amalgamated the key features of that most iconic of birds with some more ergonomic motifs to create another instrument that is at once familiar and new.

This fully featured production guitar features an aged Tobacco Sunburst nitrocellulose finish over a three piece African Mahogany body, Faber hardware, Sunbear Sunbird pickup and a one piece Honduran mahogany neck with bound Indian rosewood fretboard, all finished to Neil’s exacting standards.

As with any Ivison Guitar, this Dakota has an instantly familiar feel that’s just begging to be played. The 1” body thickness gives the guitar the light feel of a Junior, the hand picked mahogany construction married to the route one nature of the wrap tail bridge is wonderfully resonant. The icing on the cake is the thru-neck-like heel giving you excellent access to the dustier end of the fretboard.

Plugged in the Sunbear pickups really shine, the unique nature of their design yielding a tone that is at once searing and smooth. If your tonal touchstones are Allen Collins, Ray Manzanera or obviously Johnny Winter then this might just be the guitar for you.

The Dakota was inspired by my love of the classic tones of Johnny Winter and Allen Collins (Lynyrd Skynyrd).Envisaged as the soul of a Firebird, sprinkled with a little nod to the Flying V and with a more ergonomic, manageable vintage Single Cut feel, it features a 3 piece body construction with a raised centre block and ‘wings’, one piece Honduran mahogany neck, bound Indian rosewood fingerboard with celluloid dots, vintage 17 degree headstock angle, a pair of exceptional hand wound Sunbird pickups, aged Faber wraparound bridge and hardware and premium CTS & Switchcraft components.They will be available in classic Tobacco Sunburst, Aged Pelham Blue and any other custom colour you can think of plus additional options of a single pickup ‘Dakota I’ or a short vibrola trem and tune-o-magic bridge will also be available.
