1994 Andy Manson Dove 1 Dreadnought + HSC
1994 Andy Manson handmade Dove 1 Dreadnought.
Andy Manson should be considered part of UK guitar building royalty, the family name being so synonymous with guitar in this country since the early 70’s. Having started started building the late 60’s, Andy growing reputation meant that he was soon being commissioned to build instruments for the likes of John Paul Jones, Andy Summers and Ian Anderson.
This guitar is in fantastic condition. Everywhere you look there are the signs of the fine craftsmanship that Andy Manson is famed for. There aren’t any unnecessary embellishments, bound simply with a two-tone pinstripe binding. The combination of Engelmann spruce top and Rosewood back and sides gives this guitar the classic look. Its been evidently well cared for with only the slight tell tale signs of use. Though it hasn’t worn through the finish, there are some ripples on the top near the pickguard. These are only clear on very close inspection.
The neck is in good shape, the Ebony fretboard is free of wear and the frets have plenty of life left in them. Unfortunately the headstock has suffered a fracture, this has been repaired well and seems very solid.
The previous owner had a K&K Double Helix pickup fitted with a trio of under bridge piezos too. The Double Helix pickup has been removed but the piezo pickups are still fitted along with an end pin jack.
Th guitar comes with a hardshell case.
There is a rich, deep, dynamic tone to this guitar with a wonderful balance that works so well either strummed or picked.
Great opportunity to get your hands on a fantastic instrument made by one of the UK’s premier luthiers.
