Let it be known we love these guitars. There is something quite special about the combination of the searing hot, vintage P-90 pickups on a lightweight mahogany body, finished in this sublime blonde, straw like, limed mahogany TV finish
This particular one has a very cool factory stinger on the headstock and also must be one of the very last single cut TV Specials to leave Kalamazoo.
This particular example is from early 1958 and has the poker chip type switch washer. It is also stunning. There are marks and dings but none of this detracts from the overall image. The finish has faded very little and there are very few signs of crazing. Have a look at the photos and you will see what we’re talking about. This is one of the cleanest we have had for some time…
The neck is free of too much wear and fade as is the rosewood fretboard. The frets have plenty of life left. The headstock does show some signs of wear but is all original and it has never had any other tuners fitted.
The plastics are in great shape and of course are all original or correct.
Electronically everything is correct and all the solder joints are undisturbed.
The guitar comes with a correct ‘Gator-skin’ case
Plugged in we’re greeted by a plethora of gnarly tones, as you expect from such an instrument. The joy is being able to tame these and take your sound from hairy to subtle with the simple manipulation of the controls. For such a straightforward guitar, there is a whole world of sounds available.
Everyone should have at least one Junior or Special in their collection. Get yours…
