A beautiful sounding, grand concert sized Martin in excellent overall condition... bigger brother to the '52 0-18 we also have in stock!

Classic style 18 appointments that make for a classy understated guitar. Mahogany back and sides, Spruce X-braced top, Mahogany neck with Rosewood fingerboard, bridge and peghead face and tortoise Celluloid pickguard and binding.

This guitar is in very good shape overall, but it's had the usual running repairs to be expected of an instrument of this age. Some of the braces appear to have been re-glued as have some small superficial cracks on the sides. There's a small repair and finish touchup to the side by the upper bout but all in all the condition is good.

Playability wise this guitar feels great; Its rounded-C neck profile is on the larger side of medium giving a nice solid feel while sitting comfortably in the hand. The setup is very good, and it plays very well with a comfortable action and room on the bridge for adjustment. The Maple bridge plate has been changed for Rosewood - something Martin would go on to implement in the late 60s. Although we won't know what it sounded like prior to this, it's hard to imagine it sounding better than it does now! It's very well balanced with classic Mahogany brightness, tight low end and prominent mids. It has excellent note clarity and fantastic resonance, making it an ideal fingerstyle instrument.

With 72 years under it's belt this guitar has developed a wonderful character both in sound and looks - a real testament to Martin's build quality during this period, and an excellent choice for someone looking for vintage small-bodied Martin tones.
