The sunburst is vibrant with plenty of red remaining in the 3 tone. The Alder body is in good overall condition with marks and dings commensurate with age, and overall this is a great looking Strat.
Internally the guitar is original with a triplet of excellent sounding grey-bottom pickups pencil dated 3/10/66. We're big fans of this era pickup as they tend to give quite a weighty tone that is a little thicker than earlier versions. This guitar is no exception, with a tone that packs a punch with some bell like low mids and rounded top end sparkle.
All CTS pot source codes date to the 14th week of '65 and wiring a solder appears intact. The neck is stamped Feb66. Profile wise it has a wide/flat C profile with a fairly quick role-off to the shoulders and remaining slim towards the 12th fret. The guitar plays well with an unrestrictive, fairly fast neck.
All hardware is present and correct, with tarnishing in keeping with the overall condition. The tuners are the correct double line Klusons, the bridge is original with 6 pat pend saddles and the correct trem block loaded with 5 springs. The plastics are all correct but the volume knob is a period replacement. The trem plate has been repaired as has the pickguard on the tip towards the horn due to shrinkage.
Cool, original example complete with original case.

This 1971 Fender Stratocaster is a superb lightweight example from the CBS period, featuring the desirable four-bolt neck. It has that classic early-’70s look and feel, and the hardtail configuration delivers a really nice punch and sustain compared to the tremolo-equipped versions.
It remains largely original, with only a few mods: a pro refret with larger fretwire, a changed nut and a replacement neck pickup cover. A five-way switch replaces the original three-way safely retained in the case. Condition is excellent overall, showing only light playwear and presenting beautifully. It’s also notably lightweight for the era, which adds to the resonance and comfort.
The neck is chunky and feels great in the hand. It's dated July ’71, and all three CTS pots match from the final week of 1970 (7052).
The original grey-bottom pickups are perfectly intact and sound punchy, open, and lively, with a focused midrange and that extra authority you get from a hardtail bridge. This one came to us from South Africa where it had been with the same owner (pictured) since new.
It's a fine example. The original and only owner of this amazing guitar bought it from C. Bothners & Sons Ltd, in Johannesburg SA, in 1964. Known for their excellent build quality, choice tone wood selection and lower production numbers the Cunetto-era guitars are tastefully aged with a distinctive quality and this example has nicely settled over the last 20 plus years giving the guitar a character all of it’s own. Born out of a desire to replicate the 'Golden Era' guitars from Fender's past, Fender started to explore the idea of an aged range of instruments and the possibility of putting them into production. Initially denied by the top brass, production started in mid-1995 after two prototype Relic guitars were displayed at the NAMM show to great success. These early, Relic guitars were sent by Fender to Vince Cunetto at his facility in Missouri before being aged and shipped back to Fender. Initially completed in small batches of 20 guitars a week increasing to 40 guitars a week by 1996 such was the dealers and public's appetite for the new relic instruments. The range initially featured 50’s and 60’s spec Stratocaster models and a 50s "Relic" Nocaster. By 1998 Fender looked to bring the new process in house and after a transition period the last Relic batch of the Cunetto-era were sent back to Fender. This 1960 Relic Stratocaster features an aged Olympic White finish over a lightweight Alder body with traditional pickup routes. Relic stamps and batch numbers are visible under the pickguard. The 21 fret neck has a stunning, figured Maple back and a dark Rosewood fingerboard with 9.5” radius. Both body and neck date to late 1996 but with slightly different batch codes. It's hard to say why but the butterflying of the finish shows the neck and body have been together for a long time. The pickups are the stock Fender Custom Shop Custom ’60s Single Coil Strat pickups with a five way switch and traditional Volume and Tone controls. Hardware is Nickel plated throughout featuring period correct Kluson Deluxe style Tuners, an aged vintage type Tremolo unit, bridge and saddles. The guitar weighs 7.7lbs and the neck profile is a traditional ’60s C carve at the nut that transitions towards a D shape with a little more shoulder as the neck fills out. The nut measures 41.2mm wide with 1st and 12th fret depth measurements of 19.7mm and 23.4mm. The frets have plenty of height, show little wear and the guitar plays well with a nice low action. Everything under the pickguard is nice and tidy. The second tone control has been moved from the middle pickup over to the bridge pickup, a popular mod and easily reversible. The electronics are mounted to the original 3-ply pickguard with the 5-way switch allowing full range of classic Stratocaster tones. With its small footprint, this is the perfect example of "tone in a box." Whether you’re playing clean, dynamic country twang, gritty blues, or pushing the amp into overdrive, the sound of this Champ is full of character. The relatively small wattage means it doesn’t have the overwhelming volume of larger Fender amps, but it still packs a punch, making it a favourite for the studio, and small venue gigs. It’s loud enough to get a rich, saturated sound at lower volumes but remains manageable at higher levels, making it perfect for players who like to crank up their amp and push it into natural overdrive without shaking the walls.
The natural overdrive and warm, chiming tones are perfect for both clean and dirty sounds, offering a dynamic range that makes it extremely versatile despite its simplicity. When driven hard, the Champ produces a sweet, creamy distortion that has become a signature sound for many famous players, particularly in blues and rock music. The tone has a fullness that belies the amp’s small size, with a certain midrange punch that allows notes to cut through the mix while still retaining warmth and definition.
Whether you’re a vintage Fender enthusiast, a gigging musician, or a home player looking for that elusive “perfect” tone, this 1960 Fender Tweed Champ is an outstanding choice. It remains true to its roots with a sound and aesthetic that will make any player feel like they’re stepping into a piece of Fender history.

Cool mid-70s Silverface Champ. A small box that packs a punch!
The 70s saw a few changes to the Champ's circuitry compared to its drip-edge and black panel predecessors. One of the significant internal changes was the modification of the tone stack, which altered the way the tone controls responded. This in addition to cooler biasing resulted in a slightly cleaner sound with more headroom and less natural overdrive when cranked compared to the earlier models.
Loos like a few passive components have been replaced to keep it working but all the important bits are all there and original.
This is a good example that will deliver vintage small box tone effortlessly. Often overlooked due to a preference for earlier models, these amps tend to fly under the radar, but we feel they offer excellent value for money. This one came to us having not been touched for many years, but after a good clean and some basic TLC it's back with a bang and looking great!
This is a late L-series, pearl dot neck, un-bound fingerboard version - post clay dot but pre the transition to bound necks and block inlays. The neck is a comfortable medium C, the frets show wear but are original, as is the nut. Tuners are the correct double-line Klusons. The neck is nicely worn having benefitted from years of play to give it that smooth desirable feel. The body retains its original finish which as you can see in the photos has faded leaving a nicely contrasting perimeter burst with no red left to speak of. It shows wear and there appears to have been some minor surface reaction on the side by the rear strap button, commonly seen as a result of being kept in foam padded flight cases or similar.
Hardware wise, it's missing the trem arm but retains the bridge cover. The mute is present without the foam, and all other chrome hardware is correct. The pickups are the correct staggered pole, single coils with cream covers and the knobs and switches are correct too. Under the hood we have one changed CTS volume pot from 1981 and an original Stackpole tone pot from '65. The coloured cloth wiring all looks good and the switches and circuitry functions as intended. As expected there are lots of sounds to play with, from thin twang to warm, mellow tones and the out of phase option is always fun for spikey rhythm playing or single notes that really cut through.
All in all a very cool '60s Fender offset made shortly after the CBS takeover.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0917/7258/4275/files/dsc09551_d2f9f127-1ffe-4720-bc8f-1d5bdb2fab18.jpg?v=1762539218
1972-fender-telecaster-blonde-bigsby
1972 Fender Telecaster, Blonde + Bigsby

This is one cool looking machine with a load of character! It has just the right amount of wear and discolouration that puts most modern day relics to shame.
Starting from the top we have the original F-Stamp tuners, single string tree, Walnut truss rod plug, correct decal and nitro headstock face finish. It benefits from a refret and subsequent relacquered fingerboard - as a result it's a nice playing example with a very comfortable medium C profile neck that would suit most players.
The neck/body join is nice and tight unlike some can be from this period. The neck displays a rather smudged 3FEB72B neck stamp along with an Xavier Armenta stamp - the final neck sander in the production line for Fender at the time. The body has nicely aged, yellowed and darkened in appearance displaying lacquer checking, dings and scratches befitting of an instrument that's been used for a large part of its life. The mix of the Nickel Fender branded Bigsby and the Chrome bridge, bridge plate and control plate all contributes to what is a very cool looking vintage Tele. The Jazzmaster style bridge with threaded saddles works well with the Bigsby trem, and the setup is good, with plenty of break angle over the bridge to ensure stability. The neck has a shim that's improved the geometry of the instrument and overall it's a really good playing Tele.
Sound wise it'll be no surprise that it delivers the Tele bite, twang and cut on the bridge pickup and the bell like, warmer neck pickup tones. The Bigsby gives you another angle, great for for chord vibrato, shimmers and swells.
Pots are both CTS dating to the end of '65 with matching source codes. Wiring is period correct black, white, yellow PVC type and besides some slightly messy solder on the volume pot everything looks correct for the period.
A cool model that doesn't come up too often in the UK market. At the time of writing we actually have both versions in stock, both from 1968 - the first year of production. The Thinline is a really cool model designed to be lightweight and more resonant but also to retain the similar characteristic Tele bite and twang that we all know and love. This one doesn't disappoint on that front, and apart from a refret and full overspray the guitar is all original and in excellent condition.
The headstock bears the original black bold Fender Telecaster decal, a single string tree and 6 original F-stamped tuners. All dateable components align: the serial number dating to '68, the Maple neck stamped DEC '68, and earlier pots from '66 as is commonly seen due to a large potentiometer order that year. You even see '66 pots on instruments into the early '70s for that reason.
The guitar also comes with a COA from Gruhn Guitars dated Feb 2019 which corroborates our findings that the instrument is original besides the overspray which they attempted to remove with some success. They also refretted the guitar with slighter larger fret wire and it's playing great! The neck is a larger medium C profile which is comfortable, supportive and gives a nice solid feel to the instrument overall.
A really nice Type 1 Thinline that would make an excellent addition to any collection, as well as a wonderful instrument to play and enjoy. It doesn't get more "70s" than this! This one is in good overall condition with the odd ding and knock here and there. It's been used over the years, has had a refret and changed nut, and the finish has honeyed a little giving a very nice amber hue.
This one dates to early 1973. Neck stamp is FEB 73, serial number dates to '72, readable pots date to 49th week of '72 and the grey bottom pickups date to '73. All looks good under the hood! A "Natural" red stamp is present in the neck pickup cavity along with an Xavier Armenta stamp visible on the bottom of the neck.
Being an early '70s model you get two string trees mounted on the nitro finish headstock face as well as the bullet truss rod, bold Fender black decal and 6 F-Plate Chrome tuners to the rear. It's had a refret and a changed nut as is often the case these days. As a result it plays very well with a medium C neck profile and plenty of fret height. The Maple fingerboard is punctuated with black dot markers, and the Microtilt adjustable neck has the 3-bolt design of the period with a good neck pocket fit.
The multi-piece Ash body has a pleasant grain to it, the finish has darkened a little over the years which is contrasted nicely with the white 3-ply pickguard. Plastics all appear correct as does the wiring and components including the 'made in Mexico' CTS pots as used in 1972. The staggered polepiece pickups sounds great, lots of bell like tones at the neck with a sharper attack and cut at the bridge. The quality of woods used by the Custom Shop is evident with this one.
Playability wise it has a full feeling C profile neck with a nice graduation in the shoulders.
