Spearheading the custom shop at Gretsch for many years now, he is highly regarded amongst the guitar building community and players alike for his craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Junior Bo Huff grew up pinstriping cars and recently took over the running of his father’s, Bo Huff, shop in Utah. Bo Huff is legendary amongst the hot rod community with Junior carrying on the fine tradition.
This guitar is in New Old Stock, unsold condition. The artwork is stunning, the quality so high and really accentuates the finish. It has some light aging by Stephen Stern but really does look the part.
The neck is in superb shape with its glossy finish. The fretboard is also in superb shape as are the frets. This guitar, being unsold is exactly how it left the Gretsch factory in 2010.
The hardware on this one is exceptional and this too has been lightly aged by Stephen Stern. One clasp of the case has broken off during moving at some stage (not by us) but is in the case pocket Included is also the original Gretsch cardboard shipping carton.
The electronics are in perfect shape and have remained untouched.
The guitar comes with its correct leather covered hardshell case which has also been pinstriped.
Sonically this guitar delivers. Interestingly the tuner ferrules have been painted over. The new decal looks correct under black light, matching the finish. And not just any old 1964 Duo-sonic. This is the rarest Duosonic out there from this period and is a mahogany body, translucent red variant. The cherry finish is in fact the top colour from candy apple red without the metallic undercoat. This, combined with the rare mahogany body makes for quite a combination. Fender’s history regarding alternative body woods is vague to say the least but there is no doubt that during this period they were experimenting with mahogany and korina, in all probability due to Leo Fender having access to some cheap stock.
The finish is quite beaten up but the colour is still vivid.
The neck (made of a lovely piece of birdseye maple), fretboard and frets are in great shape with the finish having worn into a comfortable surface. These woods included Mahogany and African Limba, also known as Korina. Though not common, these do come up from time to time and this is one of them. This one came to us from South Africa where it had been with the same owner (pictured) since new.
It's a fine example. The original and only owner of this amazing guitar bought it from C. Bothners & Sons Ltd, in Johannesburg SA, in 1964. He said it was not especially ordered, it was just hanging in the store and he had no idea it was one of the rare Korina examples and neither did the shop. The finish has faded and worn in places but is in otherwise great condition. You can see the grain of the korina body through where the finish has chipped and in the neck pocket.
The neck, dated May 1964, is great too. There is some wear to the fretboard which you can see in the pictures. The back of the neck has worn comfortably and the original frets have some life left in them.
Plastics and pickguard are well preserved. These nitrate guards are particularly prone to warping and cracking so its always nice to find one that hasn’t. This example just oozes mojo. The sunburst looks great but it has been refinished as it would have originally been gold. It does seem that the body has been over sprayed at some stage. Apart from that there is very little wear to the top. The back of the 2 piece ‘pancake’ body shows some sign of use with some buckle rash evident.
The three piece mahogany neck (soon to be changed to maple in 1975) shows very little signs of wear. Even with the hollow design, the guitar can withstand a surprising amount of gain before feedback becomes impossible. The tailpiece seems to play a big part in the tone. We’ve conducted experiments (on a different guitar of the same model) whereby we swapped the tailpiece from the trapeze found here to a rosewood bridge and found that the one piece trapeze tailpiece produces far more sustain and a better string transfer to the top of the guitar. In effect what you get here is akin to a hollowbody Goldtop Les Paul, the combination of P90 pickups and heavier tailpiece.
Both pickups are well balanced. Renowned for its lush, sweeping modulation, this pedal offers guitarists a distinctive tonal palette, characterized by its ability to produce everything from subtle, chorus-like shimmer to intense, jet-engine whooshes.
This classic pedal features three simple yet highly effective controls: Rate, Range, and Color. The Rate knob adjusts the speed of the modulation, allowing for everything from slow, sweeping flanges to rapid, oscillating effects. The Range control sets the breadth of the effect, determining how pronounced the flange will be across the frequency spectrum. Finally, the Color knob fine-tunes the feedback, adding a resonance that can vary from a gentle swirl to a more pronounced, metallic edge.
A standout feature of the Deluxe Electric Mistress is its Filter Matrix mode, which freezes the modulation, enabling the creation of static, comb-filtered tones that add a unique texture to any sound. This function makes it a versatile tool for both traditional and experimental musicians.
The Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Electric Mistress also includes a noise filter to eliminate some of the unwanted noise found in the original Electric Mistress, ensuring a cleaner and more refined sound. Additionally, it offers separate Dry and Wet outputs, providing flexibility in signal routing and allowing players to blend their effects with greater precision.
At the heart of the Deluxe Electric Mistress is the Reticon SAD1024A chip, a key component that contributes to the pedal’s rich, analog flanging effect. This chip is known for its high-quality sound and is a significant factor in the pedal’s enduring popularity.
Constructed with a robust metal chassis, the pedal is designed to withstand the rigors of live performance. Its rich analog circuitry ensures a warm, organic sound that digital emulations often struggle to replicate. The body is finished in a dark, walnut stain that contrasts with its sleek, minimalist appointments.
This model is the Harrison spec Beatle era model and is a fully hollow construction without the sound post or trestle bracing found in some higher-end models. The neck is made of maple with a rosewood fingerboard, featuring "thumbnail" inlays that add to its vintage aesthetic. The 24.6" scale length gives it a comfortable, easy-playing feel, and the 21 frets allow for smooth playability across the board.
Like all Atkins models the Model 6119 is fitted with a "Gretsch by Bigsby" vibrato and zero fret, two of Chet's requirements. The 6119 uses two single-coil Hi-lo'Tron pickups in place of the double-coil Filter'Tron units used on the higher-end Country Gentleman and 6120. The sound is somewhat brighter than these and many other Gretsch models, due to the combination of single-coil pickups and thin closed body but with plenty of depth when required.
Other hallmark features include Grover StaTite tuners (one is slightly bent), and a rocking bar bridge that provides stability and helps retain tuning while adding a characteristic Gretsch sound. Although the least expensive instrument in the Chet Atkins signature line, by the standards of the day the Tennessean was a relatively upscale guitar. An excellent example of Gibson heritage, the guitar is testament to the quality of the high-end instruments Gibson was producing as the post-war era met the 1950’s.Introduced in 1922 and developed by Lloyd Loar the L-5 was the first guitar by any manufacturer to combine a carved top and back, f-holes, an adjustable truss rod and a neck that joined the body at the 14th fret. Part of the Master Model series of instruments the L-5 would remain the flagship guitar for Gibson until the release of the Super 400 in 1935. Early examples had a 16-inch body with the neck joining at the 14th fret, constructed from two sections of maple with a dark center seam, the "Snake head" headstock design was bound and inlaid with a diagonal "The Gibson" logo and Gibson's iconic flowerpot motif in pearl. The finest Spruce was reserved for the soundboard and the backs and sides were a mixture of Maple and Birch. As a high end, professional grade instrument the L-5 would undergo many changes in the following years, constantly evolving as players' needs necessitated evolving from the original 16-inch wide, non-cutaway design, through to the 17-inch "Advanced" model in 1934 to the use of the longer 25-½ inch scale length that became a permanent feature in 1938, on to the Venetian cutaway equipped L-5 Premier in 1939 and finally the L-5 went electric with L-5CES in 1951. Shipped in 1949, this example would have been one of the earlier L-5's to bear the L-5C title with the evolution from L-5 Premier happening in 1948. Featuring a 17” body with uniformly grained Spruce top, large bound F holes and 5-ply edge binding, figured curly Maple back, rims and neck. Internally as expected the guitar has parallel spruce top braces. The two piece Maple neck has a dark center lamination and unusually for an L5 a bound Rosewood fingerboard. It was during this period that Gibson suffered an Ebony shortage and other examples of Rosewood L-5s can be seen in 1948 and 1949. The neck otherwise follows Gibsons post-war convention with a bound headstock that features an intricately inlayed pearl flowerpot inlay and large Gibson script logo that had recently been discontinued and replaced by the then-new, now-familiar modern block logo on some models. The fingerboard is inlayed with large Pearl block inlays. The tuners are gold-plated Kluson Sealfasts with translucent celluloid Keystone buttons, a feature in place since 1940. The tailpiece is the non-hinged adjustable L-5 Vari-Tone tailpiece found on the L-5 from 1939. Gibson's records show only 23 sunburst L-5C shipped in 1949. The guitars serial number - A-3483 places the instruments production into the later part of the year. The original 5-ply cellulose tortoise pickguard, although supplied with the guitar has 'off-gassed' so the guitar comes with an excellent reproduction pickguard from Paul Fox at Fox Guitars fitted to the original bracket. The guitar is in great condition structurally and cosmetically, it plays very well with good geometry and decent height to the dressed frets. The paper thin finish shows signs of use with dings, dents and scrapes throughout but nothing to detract from the appearance of a near 75 year old guitar. The finish has aged to a wonderful amber hue and the gold hardware has softened most notably to the tailpiece. The fast, slim neck shows wear to the lacquer from use, with a contemporary feeling oval profile it has a nut width of 43.09 and a 1st fret depth of 22.97mm. The guitar has a lively percussive voice, well balanced and with plenty of presence it has a clear, crisp and dry tone equally suited for rhythm as well as melody lines. The guitar comes with the photographed, highly desirable Geib 'Airline Tweed' Case. The run continued intro 1984 Now 40 years old, the guitar is a fantastic example in wonderful original condition. Released in 1953 as a response to Fender releasing the Precision Bass in 1951 the two instruments couldn’t have been farther apart with the now iconic Violin shape thanks in part to Les Paul. The Gibson EB-1 bass shipped for just five years between 1953 and 1958, with 526 basses produced before being replaced with the new Thinlline EB-2 model. The EB-1 was briefly reissued between 1970 and 1973 with a further 473 shipped. Designed to appeal to the traditional bass player who may be hesitant to adopt the new form of playing bass. Gibson even included a telescopic stand (missing from this example) that would fit into the bottom strap button, that would allow you to play the bass standing up.
Featuring a solid mahogany body, carved from a single piece of Mahogany with a Mahogany set neck, Rosewood fingerboard and a natural Mahogany finish. The EB would also feature a short (30.5”) scale length. The original EB bass had a single coil pickup that was designed by Gibson engineers Walter Fuller and Seth Lover. The coil had 250000 turns, and was so large, it was rotated to fit in the route, explaining why the polepieces were along one edge, rather than in the center.
Appointments were on a par with Gibsons’s mid-level solid body guitars with dot-position markers, nickel plated hardware and single-ply plastics. The finely sculpted body is accented by a double black purfling stripe on both the top and bottom of the body alongside simulated f-holes - a subtle inclusion that adds a degree of Gibson class to an otherwise fairly plain instrument. The hardware comprises Kluson banjo style tuners and Gibsons new Bass specific stud bridge/tailpiece combination. The Brown plastics comprise the pickup cover, elevated pickguard and numbered barrel knobs.
This guitar dates to 1956 and is of only 65 shipped that year and is in fantastically preserved condition internally and externally and with the exception of a replacement input jack plate is as it left the factory. The original single coil pickup is safely housed beneath its brown Royalite cover and measures a whopping 19.99K!, pots are Centralab bearing a late 53 source code and Capacitors are Cornell-Dubilier. A great looking guitar that with the exception of a like-for-like replacement Bridge is in excellent, original condition. First shipped in the very early 70’s the Les Paul Deluxe would replace the Les Paul Standard that itself had only just been reissued in 1968. In essence the Deluxe was very similar to the 1969 Standard with the Mini-Humbucker pickups replacing the P-90 pickups of the Standard. Initially released only in Goldtop finish, the Deluxe would be offered in numerous other finishes as the decade progressed. The Deluxe was a good seller for Gibson and remained in the catalogue until the 1980’s and has subsequently been recently reissued. This early ‘80s model is a great example in fantastic original condition. The serial number dates the guitar to 1981 and the guitar has all the traits to conform with this. By the 1980’s the Deluxe had lost the ‘pancake’ body it was associated with in the Seventies. The now 3-piece maple neck contrasts visually with the Mahogany body. The rosewood fingerboard is inlayed with Trapezoid inlays. The headstock is still the larger style utilised by Gibson from the late-sixties onwards.
The headstock has an impressed serial number with a ‘Made in USA’ stamp below. There is a small volute as the headstock transitions into the neck. The Natural finish is in great condition throughout. Natural was offered from 1975 onwards but with less than 500 produced the finish is amongst the rarest produced during the Deluxe's initial run.
Electronics comprise of two excellent sounding original PAT stamped Mini-humbuckers with ink codes, a full set of CTS pots dating to 1981 and two ceramic caps. The loom looks very tidy with no evidence of solder joints being disturbed. Pickups measure 6.5K and 6.15K in the neck and the bridge respectively. The bridge is a new replacement Gibson Nashvile ABR. Tuners are the Gibson branded type used through this period of production. Some of the shafts are bent but the tuners all function as intended. The guitar retains its original frets with binding nibs present. The guitar plays nicely with a low fast action. The neck is the traditional seventies oval Les Paul profile with bit more depth than the early seventies guitars. This neck has a depth of 22.07 mm at the first fret filling out to a palm filling 25mm at the 12th fret. The nut width is a generous 43.25mm. Acoustically the guitar has a lively ring and plugged in the guitar sounds like a great Les Paul Deluxe with the mini humbuckers offering brighter and snappier tones than full sized humbuckers but with without losing the warmth and weight of a good set of humbuckers. The guitar comes with its original ‘Chainsaw Case.’

Superb 2015 Gibson Custom Les Paul Standard Reissue in a fantastic looking Bourbon Burst with a beautifully figured top reminiscent of the Perry Burst. A great example of the ever popular Gibson Custom Les Paul Standard Reissue, featuring a particularly nice figured maple top with a carve that really shows off the finish and figure.
