70's Dick Knight 12 String
With a die-hard cult following and numerous famous endorsees, Dick Knight's guitars have garnered a reputation for build quality and tone that is unrivaled on this side of the Atlantic.
This particular guitar was once in the possession of Gordon Giltrap who has said that this was his favorite Dick Knight 12 string.
The guitar is in good condition. There is some az cracking around the treble side of the body where the neck joins. This seems to be stable and has not affected the bracing underneath. It has though cracked the purling and evidence of the damage has stretched all the way around the heel. Having said this the guitar stays in tune and is still very playable.
Apart from the damage the top is in very good cognition with no real signs of bellying.
The maple back and sides are in equally good condition and it's clear why Gordon Gilatrp was so fond of this guitar.
The ebony fretboard shows no signs of wear. The nine piece neck also shows no real signs of wear and is an excellent example of Dick’s neck construction during this period.
The tuners have been changed for newer closed gear examples.
The bridge shows some signs of lifting from the body though this is minor and again does not affect playability.
The guitar comes with a hardshell case
The maple construction of this guitar gives it such a wonderfully robust tone that chimes so clearly. The neck is comfortable and the action is low making fretting easy.
This guitar is a testament to Dick’s skills as a luthier and will make a wonderful additon to any collection. Grab it before it gets away…
