2004 Gibson J190 EC Super Fusion + OHSC
From Gibson’s Montana factory we have a 2004 Gibson J190 EC Super Fusion. Produced for only two years, this guitar combines Jumbo stylings with a combo of Charlie Christian and piezo under saddle pickup all controlled via a three-way switch and a trio of rotary controls.
The guitar is in stunning condition with hardly a mark to be seen. The pairing of Spruce and attractive figured maple makes for an eye-catching combination. There are no signs of any fading to the finish or any sign of shrinkage or cracking.
The five piece neck too is in excellent shape showing no real signs of use, the gloss finish showcasing the attractive grain. The ebony fretboard is free of any wear and the frets are in almost unplayed condition.
Bridge and plastics too are in unused condition with no sign of any tarnishing to any of the metalwork.
The guitar comes with its correct hardshell case and paperwork
With tone to match the looks, this J190 does an excellent job at bridging the gap between acoustic and archtop. Less of a fusion of jazz and rock, this is more of a fusion of jazz and folk. Unamplified it has a fullness that is so familiar to fans of the Jumbo body shape with plenty of scope for both strumming and picking. Plugged in, the combination of magnetic and piezo pickups provides a wide selection of tonal options, selectable via the three-way switch.
Rarely seen, this guitar ticks many boxes and would make a welcome addition to any collection.
