A Louisiana native, Gerard Melancon came from a musical family. Initially drawn to performance, it was his own hand made instruments that would prove to be his billboard. Making every instrument by hand, he grew a following and a reputation for exquisite guitars and basses, one of which you can see here, utilizing the finest materials and attention to detail. 

This is a stunning bass. Lightweight Swamp Ash body finished in translucent blonde ‘Mary Kay’ finish, a classic combination, in excellent condition showing hardly any use.

The neck too with its oiled finish is in excellent condition with hardly a mark. The rosewood fretboard and frets look hardly to have been played.

Hardware and plastics are in excellent condition without a sign of any tarnishing.

Electrically everything is untouched. The bass is fitted with a Melancon split coil pickup, Gerard would wind his own pickups to suit the instrument, and a Seymour Duncan Bassline Humbucker in the bridge. The mini toggle switch is a series, parallel or coil tapped switch for the humbucker. Controls are volume and tone for each pickup in the standard configuration.

The bass comes with its correct hardshell case.

The craftsmanship is evident from the moment you pick up this instrument. The bass is well balanced and has a resonant unamplified tone. The combination of pickups yields a wide variety of tones to suit any situation and it's a joy to play.
