1987 Gibson Les Paul Custom Lite + OHSC
Introduced to the catalog in 1987, the Les Paul Custom Lite had a thinned down body to reduce the weight and eschewed the bridge tone control for a coil tap switch whilst keep all the other classic design features. Available in Ebony, Sunburst or Metallic Sunset,it was discontinued in 1989.
The guitar is in stunning condition. The Metallic Sunset finish has faded ever so slightly as you can see under the pickguard but there are no serious knocks or bumps anywhere.
The neck too is in great condition. The ebony fretboard shows no sign of wear and there is plenty of life left in the original frets.
Plastics are in excellent shape.
Interestingly though this is a Custom, this guitar has been fitted with Chrome hardware. We have no reason to think this isn't correct for the guitar. These are all in great shape too with no sign of corrosio.
Electrically things are as we’d expect. The pickups could be Tim Shaw humbuckers though we are not certain. Solder joints look to be correct.
The guitar comes with its correct Protector hardshell case.
Lighter, certainly for the time, this guitar feels comfortable to hold and far more familiar than you would have initially thought. All the classic sounds are here with plenty of tonal options. The coil tap works on the bridge pickup only, expanding the paleteel.
Some 80’s glam for the collection or to stand out on any stage, this is the guitar for you…
